Liberia YES (Youth, Employment, Skills) Project

The Liberian TVET (YES) project involved in the formulation and implementation of a comprehensive TVET and M&E system in the country. The company provided training to personnel that would be responsible for the implementation of the M&E system for the TVET system.

By order of the World Bank and the Liberian Government and consultancy firm Transtec, Belgium, RRD has been engaged in the Skills Development Program of Liberia, Africa. The program was aimed at financing skills development activities with the aim of stimulating further development of the country. The program was called the Liberia YES program (Youth, Employment, Skills).

The intention was to target the demand for labor in both the formal and informal sectors and realize a significant reform in the TVET system of the country. The objective of the assignment has been the effective management and timely implementation of project activities related to these goals.

Expected outcomes were defined as:

  • Provision of business development support to improve productivity and to strengthen sustainability of the resulting increases in employment.
  • Increased access to skills development opportunities leading to employment.
  • Quality and relevance of training improves.
  • Institutional framework for TVET development established.
The project has lasted for three years (until end 2013). RRD is engaged in making an inventory of typical risk factors and design and implement measures to mitigate these risks.
